According to a statement from the organisers, the aim of this programme is to provide a platform for these departments to meet with their main customers namely students, staff and suppliers directly to ensure customer needs are identified and understood.

The statement added that among the objectives of the programme are to provide a holistic approach in providing service through casual interaction and communication that are friendly, transparent and efficient.

The official opening ceremony of this programme is scheduled on 12 May 2016 (Thursday) at 1 MegaLab, UMS Library by the Vice-Chancellor of UMS, Professor Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah.

Interesting talks have also been lined-up during the programme that included success secret revealed, ICT security, managing money, social comunication, technology update and many more.

Besides that, there are lots of exciting games and prizes to be won.

TUESDAY, 10 MAY 鈥� The 鈥楩un Run & Ride鈥� programme organised by the Sports, Recreation and Enhancement  Exco of Residential College Tun Mustapha (KKTM), 麻豆视频 (UMS) was held for the first time in conjunction with KKTM Carnival.

According to the college principal, Dr. Mohamad Nizam Nazarudin, such programme could provide opportunity for students and the general public to remain active and to adopt healthy lifestyle habits besides spending time with others.

鈥淧articipants who joined the programme were from students of IPTA/IPTS, Secondary School, UMS Staff itself and the outside community,鈥� he said.

Cycling participant, Lim Fong Han was the first to arrive with the time of 42:02:05, whilst runner, Romario Tanjong clocked in at 47:14:08 making him the first runner to arrive at the finish line.

Ten early participants who arrived at the finish line received hamper, medals and certificate of appreciation.

Deputy Principal of Residential College Tun Mustapha, Herman Asalah when met said the programme was one of the best medium to form a healthy community, fit and adopt a healthy lifestyle by being sensitive to the environment through walking, cycling and using engine-free vehicles.

The flag-off for the 10 kilometre run was followed by the 20 kilometre cycling and was officiated by Herman at the Padang Kawad (Parade Square) UMS at 7.00 am, witnessed by the Programme Director, Mohd Jakrul Nizam Ismail. 鈥� (fl)

MONDAY, 9 MAY 鈥� The Association of Business, Economics and Accounting Students (PMPEP) recently organised a study tour to Hong Kong.

Themed 鈥楧iscover Fragrant Harbour Educational Tour Programme鈥�, the study tour involved 13 students from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accounting (FPEP) accompanied by the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Postgraduate FPEP, Dr. Arif @ Kamisan Pusiran and two administrative staff of FPEP.

Among the programmes carried out during the five-day visit was a meeting and discussion with the Association of Students of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), and a visit to Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

The opportunity to step on Hong Kong soil, also known as the Pearl of the Orient was fully utilised by the students to gain new experience with a visit to the Science Museum and the Golden Bauhinia Square, an historic place that became the venue for the resubmission of Hong Kong from the British administration to China in 1997.

The PMPEP also visited Ocean Park, one of the major tourist attractions in Hong Kong and the nearby market square that sold a variety of interesting souvenirs.

Speaking about the visit, FPEP Dean, Professor Dr. Rasid Mail believed that the experience of being outside of the country helped  make the students be mature in their thinking about global progress that was happening rapidly around the world.

鈥淭his study tour could also build a foundation to create a network between local universities, in particular UMS with international universities for student mobility programmes at international level in the future,鈥� he added. 鈥� SS (fl)

MONDAY, 9 MAY 鈥� The Academic and Leadership Student Welfare Committee (JAKMAS) Residential College Tun Mustapha (KKTM) 麻豆视频 (UMS) recently organised a Speech Contest Residential College Tun Mustapha Cup 2016.

According to the Programme Director, Jennyfer Priscillasheal Jonius, the speech contest was held with the aim to scout for talents in speaking and communicating ideas among students.

鈥淭he competition also aims to trains and educate students to think critically and creatively, and be outstanding,鈥� he said.

Meanwhile, KKTM Principal, Dr Mohamad Nizam Nazarudin at the closing of the contest said that the programme was recommended because it could promote the idea and practice of self-confidence amongst students to voice their views.

鈥淭his competition could also improve communication skills among students thereby increase their knowledge in public speaking such as speech contest,鈥� he said.

A total of 12 orators of public and private universities around Kota Kinabalu participated in the competition held at the Residential College Tun Mustapha UMS. 鈥� (fl)
