Announcing the 1st International Borneo One Health Summer Camp 2023 (IB OHSem)

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Ìý(/fpsk/) located in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia proudly announces the launch of its 1st International Borneo One Health Conference 2023 (IB OHSem).

We are sending you this email to share the information about our upcoming summer camp program that will be held from 7th to 13th of August 2023.

We would like to invite international participants from your institution (they can be either undergraduate, or graduate students, early- and mid-career healthcare professions or researchers) to join this exciting program. This event is our 1st one-week summer camp which includes in-person class sessions and field trips that provide participants with cutting-edge skills in a variety of One Health topics and immerse them in challenging real-life projects.

The fee is 400 USD. The programme fee includes instruction and learning materials, accommodation and meals, entertainment programmes, three full-day excursions at our local hot spots and an end-of-course certificate.

The International Borneo One Health Summer Camp aims to provide knowledge, skills and competences regarding efficient solutions to the multifaceted global challenges to human, animal and environmental health through cross-disciplinary research, education and collaboration between relevant institutions and stakeholders through transformative field-based experiential learning.

We hope that this program is in line with your institution's vision and we could collaborate further in international activities such as summer camp programs or other activities. We would also be extremely grateful and appreciate it if you could share this program with your students/ colleagues/ friends who might benefit from it.

Pleasure praxis is a term coined by Oliver Vodeb in his book Food Democracy.
Pleasure praxis draws from the emancipatory potentials of the pharmacological aspects of everyday life where pleasure meets with conflict. This lecture will explain the concept of pleasure praxis and how it can be thought in relation to the idea of the "reflective city."

Short bio:
Dr Oliver Vodeb is an inter/extradisciplinary designer, critical theorist, educator and student. ÌýHe is the co-founder and principal curator of Memefest. The global network has been working on decolonising knowledge and the public sphere through research, education, and interventions since 2002.
Ìý
Oliver is an academic at RMIT School of Design, Melbourne. He has published seven books, regularly gives lectures and conducts workshops globally and has designed and directed public campaigns and interventions in various parts of the world. He was born in Germany, grew up in Slovenia and lives in Melbourne.

Opening Ceremony: Ocean Celebration 2023 (8 June, UMS Library Auditorium)

This ceremony marks the beginning of a week-long series of activities, exhibitions and interactive sessions aimed at engaging the community in ocean conservation efforts. Our opening ceremony promises to be a truly remarkable event, filled with inspiring speeches on Coastal Connections Living Lab and marine pollution from distinguished conservationists and scientists who will inspire and motivate participants to take action and contribute to the conservation of our marine ecosystems.
