<div style="text-align: justify;">A total of 14 exhibition booths took part in this programme which include the Sandakan Municipal Council, Royal Malaysian Police, Takaful Malaysia, Tabung Haji, Bank Rakyat, National Anti-Dadah Agency, Labour Department and the Sandakan Industrial Training Institute.<br /><br /></div>

<span class="hps">Deputy Director of UMSKAL, Dr. Geoffrey Harvey Tanakinjal said ‘Campus Survival’ UMSKAL 2014 was also to prepare new undergraduates to face life as a university student.</span><br />

In addition, students can also learn to adapt to the new environment and learn to be independent without depending on others and build a positive character and have self-confidence in facing challenges as undergrads.<br />

‘Campus Survival’ Programme was to develop high level communication skills when dealing with others and to be able to build a strong identity as an undergrad and to provide opportunities to first year undergrads to be active in various fields and not to rely solely on academic,” he said.<br />
<br />
He said this when launching the closing ceremony of the programme at the Labuan Sports Complex recently.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">According to Dayang, who is an undergrad with the Faculty of Psychology and Education undertaking Teaching of English as a Second Language Programme, filming of the music video was fully recorded at UMS stadium and considered as a gift to UMS in celebrating the independence month and 20 years of UMS establishment.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">“This is an honour for UMS especially for the UMS student orchestra, which will be directly involved in the production of its audio and video before being submitted to RTM,” he said.<br /><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">Roslee who is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Heritage UMS also disclosed that about 75 musicians made up of undergrads and alumni of UMS would be engaged in the production of the song ‘DemiMu Malaysia’.</div>

<br />
According to the UMS Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ismail Ali, the programme is one of the efforts to instil the students’ sense of belonging and love to UMS Campus.<br />
<br />
“In line with the Vice-Chancellor Message, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd. Harun Abdullah wants every student to have a sense of belonging. He also urges the students to create a conducive and harmony campus,” he said after the programme.<br />
<br />
According to Ismail, what they have done in the programme is to clean out the college surrounding area including the drainage and water reservoir.<br />
<br />
He also said that they are also concentrating on the cleanliness in every level and block of the college residential especially the toilet.<br />
<br />
This programme involved 4,000 students as part as an awareness on the dengue situation and as a support to the campaign against dengue,” he added.<br />

According to a statement issued by UHEIM, the event will begin at 4.30 pm with the recitation of ‘Selawat Barakat Makkiyah’ by about 200 students of <em>Tahfiz al-Quran</em> and Pusat Latihan Dakwah Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (JAKIM).<br />
<br />
The event, organised in conjunction with the celebration of <em>Maulidur Rasul</em> UMS level also included a talk on ‘Hakikat Ittaba’ which will be presented by <em>Maulana </em>Razif Abd Wahab.<br />
<br />
In addition, the programme will also have a lecture and ‘Ijazat Kitab Barakaat Makkiyah’ by religious scholars from Pakistan, Syeikh Muhammad Zubair Ruhani Bazi and Syeikh Muhammad Zuhair Ruhani Bazi.<br />

The team beat ‘Asal Boleh’ with 15-11, 12-15, 16-14 before beating ‘Gila-Gila Regu’ 15-12, 16-14. By beating these two teams at the semi-finals which adopted the league concept, the winner which comprises Sharif Idrus Abdul Taib, Syafiq Edul and Mihammad Fakhrullah Abdul Muda received a trophy, medals and hamper.<br /><br /> 1<sup>st</sup> Runner-up was ‘Gila-Gila Regu’ whilst ‘Asal Boleh’ 2<sup>nd</sup> Runner-up. Each team received the championship medals for their feat. The prize giving was done by UMS Youth and Sports Assistant, Douglas Eric Elisa Tar.<br /><br /> Besides Sepak Takraw which involved 12 teams, various sports activities were also organised. Among them were futsal, netball and volleyball. The good weather adds up to the fine performance by our UMS students.<br /><br /> The organising of this championship among others was aimed at giving opportunities to UMS students to be active in sporting activities and a ground to uncover new talents that can be included in major sporting events. Recently, the centre had initiated the ‘Jejak Alumni’ programme by visiting all UMS graduates around Sabah.<br />

According to the centre’s Director, Mohd. Raffie Janau, the visits were intended to ensure contacts between UMS and its alumni are always strengthened besides looking into areas for cooperation.<br />
<br />
“We are targeting to reach 50,000 alumni and that they are always in touch with the university. We have various other plans that require contribution of ideas and views of the alumni,” he said, describing that the programme will be extended to Peninsular Malaysia and most likely overseas as well.<br />

He was speaking to media after the visits to some UMS alumni around Kota Kinabalu yesterday.<br />
