UMS Receives 181 New Science 麻豆视频 Students

WEDNESDAY, 29 MAY 鈥� A total of 181 new Science 麻豆视频 students had enrolled themselves starting 27 May for the 2013/2014 session.

The students were holders of the Malaysian Examination Certificate (SPM) who were then involved with the Orientation Week for the session 2013/2014 which was conducted over three days.

UMS Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd. Harun Abdullah while officiating the closing ceremony of the Orientation Week urged the new students to quickly and creatively adapt themselves to the new campus environment. He said the new learning schedule was packed and the short holiday stint in between semester breaks within a year would need students to be well disciplined in their endeavour to seek knowledge.

鈥淪tudents need to discipline themselves, be smart and creative in searching for extra notes and in time management. Besides that, students should practice group learning culture and to be bold in meeting up with their lecturers,鈥� he said. His speech text was read by his representative, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Baba Musta, the Dean of the School of Science and Technology.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Preparatory Centre for Science and Technology (PPST), Dr. Sazmal Effendy Arshad said that they will monitor their students throughout their study period through mentoring. Students would be able to discuss and share their doubts pertaining to studies or personal matters with their mentor.

鈥淭he appointed mentor will try to advice and guide the new students in solving their problems. With this, PPST will be able to monitor the students鈥� development and indirectly build a close rapport between the students and staff of PPST,鈥� he said.
