TUESDAY, 26 MAY – The Kaamatan Festival is celebrated throughout the month of May in Sabah with various activities organised in various places and districts.
At Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (UMS), the Kaamatan Festival was organised by the Centre for the Promotion of Knowledge and Language (PPIB), which started yesterday.
The four-day event offers a variety of exciting activities and is held at the premises of PPIB.
Among the interesting activities lined up are performances by local artistes and a singing competition, Sugandoi that has become one of the much-awaited event during Kaamatan festival.
The opening ceremony was officiated by the Dean of PPIB, Professor Dr. Vincent Pang.
In his speech, Professor Vincent, clad in a Kadazan traditional costume said that such programmes were very important in preserving the traditional heritage for generations.
He encouraged such programmes to be organised in future. – SS (fl)
