FSMP Mini Career Carnival 2026 Strengthens Graduate Employability Initiatives /fsmp/index.php/news-events/news/476-mini-karnival-kerjaya-fakulti-sains-makanan-dan-pemakanan-fsmp-2026 /fsmp/index.php/news-events/news/476-mini-karnival-kerjaya-fakulti-sains-makanan-dan-pemakanan-fsmp-2026 The Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition (FSMP) Mini Career Carnival 2026 was organised as a strategic faculty initiative aimed at enhancing the employability of Â鶹ÊÓƵ (UMS) graduates, in line with the increasingly competitive demands of the current job market.

The two-day programme was held from 21 to 22 January 2026 and was jointly organised in collaboration with the UMS Career and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (CEDeC) and the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) Malaysia. The event also saw active participation from industry partners representing both the public and private sectors.

The official opening ceremony was officiated by the Dean of the Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition, Â鶹ÊÓƵ, Prof. Ts. Dr. Hasmadi Mamat. In his keynote address, he emphasised that today’s graduates must not only demonstrate academic excellence but also be equipped with strong soft skills, digital competencies, critical thinking capabilities, and the adaptability required to meet evolving industry expectations.

He further highlighted that academic knowledge alone is no longer sufficient in navigating today’s dynamic employment landscape. Instead, graduates must be prepared to become competitive, ethical, and industry-ready professionals capable of contributing meaningfully to both the workforce and society.

Throughout the programme, students were exposed to a wide range of career-focused activities, including industry sharing sessions, mini interview opportunities, résumé writing workshops, and digital entrepreneurship demonstrations. These initiatives were designed to provide students with practical insights into the working environment, enhance self-confidence, and support structured career planning.

The faculty also expressed its sincere appreciation to the programme sponsors — UMS Halal Services and Research Centre (PPPH), Adabi Sabah Distribution Sdn. Bhd., CKS, and C & F Enterprise — for their valuable support and commitment in ensuring the successful implementation of the event.

In addition, the Director of CEDeC UMS, Ts. Dr. Sidah Idris, noted that the organisation of the FSMP Mini Career Carnival 2026 served as an important platform for students to explore career opportunities and begin building professional networks while still pursuing their studies.

Overall, the FSMP Mini Career Carnival 2026 generated a positive impact by strengthening university–industry collaboration, while supporting talent development initiatives and enhancing the employability of graduates from the Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition, Â鶹ÊÓƵ.
