research collaboration between the two institutions.</span></p> <p data-start="616" data-end="961"><span style="font-size: 18px;">The discussion explored several potential areas of strategic cooperation, including student and staff mobility programmes, joint research initiatives in the field of food science and technology, the implementation of <strong data-start="833" data-end="887">Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)</strong> programmes, as well as other mutually beneficial academic collaborations.</span></p> <p data-start="963" data-end="1270"><span style="font-size: 18px;">Both parties also expressed their intention to formalise the collaboration through the signing of a <strong data-start="1063" data-end="1089">Letter of Intent (LoI)</strong> in the near future, as a preliminary step towards the establishment of a <strong data-start="1163" data-end="1200">Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)</strong> aimed at developing aimed at enhancing the employability of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (UMS) graduates, in line with the increasingly competitive demands of the current job market.</span></p> <p data-start="562" data-end="912"><span style="font-size: 18px;">The two-day programme was held from <strong data-start="598" data-end="623">21 to 22 January 2026</strong> and was jointly organised in collaboration with the <strong data-start="676" data-end="738">UMS Career and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (CEDeC)</strong> and the <strong data-start="747" data-end="798">Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) Malaysia</strong>. The event also saw active participation from industry partners representing both the public and private sectors.</span></p> <p data-start="914" data-end="1353"><span style="font-size: 18px;">The official opening ceremony was officiated by the <strong data-start="966" data-end="1075">Dean of the Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, Prof. Ts. In his keynote address, he emphasised that today’s graduates must not only demonstrate academic excellence but also be equipped with strong soft skills, digital competencies, critical thinking capabilities, and the adaptability required to meet evolving industry expectations.</span></p> <p data-start="1355" data-end="1656"><span style="font-size: 18px;">He further highlighted that academic knowledge alone is no longer sufficient in navigating today’s dynamic employment landscape. The workshop was attended by all academic staff of the Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition (FSMP).</p> <p>Over the course of two days, the workshop served as an important platform for in-depth discussions on the academic curriculum. Key discussions included the review of each undergraduate programme—UH6541001 (Food Service), UH6541002 (Food Science and Nutrition), UH6541003 (Nutrition), and UH6541004 (Food Technology)—with each programme presenting its respective proposals.</p> <p>Curriculum updates were also carried out, where participants collaborated to revise course syllabi to avoid overlaps and to ensure that all courses offered remain relevant.</p> <p>The Faculty Academic Committee Meeting was also convened to endorse several key reports and to deliberate on the Academic Planning for 2026 based on the identified Key Result Areas (KRAs).</p> <p>The presence and contributions of all academic staff were highly appreciated.
